I'm blown away.

What is the problem with people? I was watching Dr. Phil about child abuse, and spanking in schools. This is just absurd!! This poor little boy was traumatized by a 6 foot 300 pound man that gave me "three licks" and he had deep tissue bruises, busted blood vessels, and BLOOD! I don't blame the poor kid! That's nuts!! They let him have the day off and sent him home without calling his mom. What is the educational systems problem? I know this is not normal schools, or even a portion of the schools, but still...it's going on! I'm pretty sure that's illegal for schools in Texas. That's awful!

I don't know how I feel about spanking. I was spanked as a kid and I guess it work. If you consider fear, memories, and severe anxiety about spankings, success? I do understand the immediate affects it has on the children, but is immediate affects what we should aim for? Absolutely not. Does spanking help in the long run? I'm not too sure what I think. This is crazy, but I got spankings in high school. It did make me think twice, but I knew the pain was momentarily, and I would eventually get over it. It did cause a lot of anxiety, unnecessary stress, and a sense of distance between my parents and I. I do agree that there are certain kids that are harder to discipline than others, but is a response to the parents rage the way to go about it? I really don't know how I feel about this.

I also saw on the news the Senior Pastor from Preston wood Baptist church was arrested today for going to meet a 13 year old in exchange for sex, which just so happen to be the police. That is so sad, and gives us Christians such a bad wrap. I feel like I need to apologize to people for the mishap the "Christians" have contributed to. All the way back to the crusades. I just finished this book called Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller...I think that's his name. What was so special about this particular chapter that I read was that in a college that was actively against Christians and Christianity, this small group of Christians set up a "confessional booth". This consist of a large shed they built, and a sign saying "Confess Your Sins" on the outside of it. Cliche, right? Not at all! What they did was they had the Christians dress up as Monks ( not too sure what that was about) and make a confessional booth like that of Catholics do...and apologize to the World for all the harm people have done in the name of the Lord. I think that's so moving and so bold. Who honestly has the courage to do that these days? Not many people..that would take so much courage and strength to face people that are so against what you stand and live for, and apologize!! The response in the book was mind boggling...the students loved it!

Interesting, I just heard on the news SUN EXPOSURE can help prevent Breast Cancer! The vitamin D in the sun. Luckily, I love the sun and I take vitamin D!
